Why did we start a free online sign up form to help those in need?
When my father was diagnosed with AML in 2018 and quickly passed, my family and I experienced tremendous support. Or did we? The support came in the form of calls, emails, texts saying “I am so sorry for your loss, how can we help you”. In the moment all we could think to say was “thanks but we are doing okay and have everything we need”. This was far from the truth. We could have greatly benefited from: snow plowing, meals, dog care, etc. Needs were all around us!
I remember the idea like it was yesterday. While sitting at the fire one night right after dad passed, I told my sister “asking for help in time of need is hard”. Withing the next few weeks, I jotted the idea of NeedU down in the form of a one page business plan (problem, solution, approach). Shortly after while walking the dogs with my friend Dave, I pitched the idea. He quickly said “I just had two kids in under a year and have no clue what I’m doing…..we can call it NeedU”. The final piece of the puzzle came when Brandon joined the team. Brandon and I are co-workers and have kicked around a few new business ideas over the past two years. After sharing the idea, I learned he too lost his father suddenly in the past 12 months. Three people with a love for new ideas, helping others and recent challenges in life.

We started NeedU to help others in time of need……that is our mission. NeedU is a public benefit corporation focused on doing just that. Remove the barriers to asking for help and getting support to those in time of need. While we have full time day jobs, this is our passion and our night and weekend focus. Please support us in telling your friends and family. Let’s help those in need together.
